The Lansdown Project

Lansdown Aims & Objectives

Planning permission was granted in 2010 to build a terrace of four 4 storey townhouses, each with four bedrooms, a garage and a parking space, beside the Lansdown Dental Practice.

Overview

A brownfield site amongst Edwardian neighbours that lay unused for years, following the revision of a road widening scheme. Our goal, while building in a sympathetic style with traditional materials, was to improve the energy efficiency. With PV and the benefit of the Feed In Tariff, it costs nothing to provide heat, hot water and power to the houses. If they were built in the same way as their neighbours, it would cost £ 1500 every year. The additional cost of building to a higher standard will be repaid within 7 years and thereafter will save money, be more comfortable to live in and have a greatly reduced carbon footprint.
